MOHINIATTAM

C lass ical form of Kerala MOHINIATTAM is a classical dance form from the state of Kerala. The word Mohini means a maiden who exudes sensuous appeal and her dance of temptation is known as the MOHINIATTAM. It is one of the later styles based on the Bharatana tyam. Maharaja Sewati Tirunal of Trivandrum gave patronage. We can get more information about this dance form in 16th centuries Shastra VyavaharMala . The great poet Vallathol established an institution in Kerala named Kalamandalam in 1930 which contributed to enhance this beautiful dance which can perform only by the woman in Kerala. Women  were never allowed to perform by men. This dance is essentially a solo performance by women. The movements are slow and glorious.
