Expression of Joy
Dance is an expression of Joy and is reflected in the movements of each and every Indian. Rhythm or Taal springs spontaneously from their steps , expression or Bhava which is the essence of dance , flows from the eyes and provides Rasa that is ecstasy and Ananda that is Joy.
These are the essential part of dance by which a dancer elaborate herself gracefully. Mythology and traditional culture are the backbone of the dances in India. The general festive ethos of the different communities and region changes every occasion into a ritual accompanied by dance. In India , dance is unbound by parameters of time and season and each occasion gives happiness and fulfilment to the people. There are two broad streams of dance forms in India. One is the classical dances and the other is the more joyous . Folk dances of India which also includes the tribal dance.
Every dance has its own perfection and its own style.The perfection, the grace , the style in classical dance can be develop only by the devotion of the dancer. The footwork of every dance form depends upto the RHYTHM and MUSIC. The classical dance has evolved from the dances of nomadic story tellers. The movements are the unifying spirit of dance. Every performer impressed the audience by his or her fine technical command and with fluent ease. The Indian classical dances rest on five pillars namely : Music , Intricate footwork , hand gestures , eloquent expressions and traditional costumes.Dance as an acronym would therefore be :
D - Stands for dedication and dexterity.
A - signifies aesthetics and Abhinaya
N - symbolises nature universe and nritta
C - beholds culture and costume and
E - stands for expression or Bhava and essence or Rasa.
