NRITYA ABHINAYA

ABHINAYA Abhinaya that is acting in drama or dance conveys meanings through body movements or dialogues and songs. Representation of Abhinaya is basically of four categories namely : ANGIKA ( Limbs ) - Movements of limbs and body postures through coded gestures. VACHIKA ( Spoken words) - spoken words to convey the meaning of song or dialogues. AHARYA ( Costumes and make-up) - Appropriate get- up , ornaments , costumes , apparel and decorative highlights are known as AHARYA. SATWIKA -  This is to express the Bhava or state of mind , that is temperament. Samyukta Hasta Mudras

Double hand gestures Hastas or Hasta Mufras are an integral part of Bharatanatyam where stories are braught to life through intricate hand gestures combined with beautiful facial expressions and dynamic movements. There are 52 Hasta Mudras which are divided into 28 single hand gestures or Asamyukta Hastas and 24 double hand gestures or Samyukta Hastas . These gestures usually used to show various characters, emotions and relationship within a story. Every movement used in Bharatanatyam has a sanskrit name.
