NRITYA ABHINAYA
ABHINAYA
Abhinaya that is acting in drama or dance conveys meanings through body movements or dialogues and songs. Representation of Abhinaya is basically of four categories namely :
ANGIKA ( Limbs ) - Movements of limbs and body postures through coded gestures.
VACHIKA ( Spoken words) - spoken words to convey the meaning of song or dialogues.
AHARYA ( Costumes and make-up) - Appropriate get- up , ornaments , costumes , apparel and decorative highlights are known as AHARYA.
SATWIKA - This is to express the Bhava or state of mind , that is temperament.
ANGIKA ( body gesture ) are of three kinds :
Limbs of body ( Sarira), that of face ( mukhaja ) and movement of entire body with efforts ( chestakruta ).
ANGIKA ABHINAYA
It is an action or movement of limbs. Action can be gatiprachara or expressive movements that is NRUTTA or RHYTHMIC MOVEMENTS.
Movements again is sub - divided to sthiti ( posture ) and gati ( physical Movements ). Standing , sitting etc. are sthiti while portraying the state of mind , emotion and Rasa pertain to gati.
MUKHAJA ABHINAYA
The expression of eyes are predominant.
SARIRA ABHINAYA
In Sarira Abhinaya head , neck , chest , waist , thighs , jangha , feet and hands are used.
These are the basic elements considered very important which is soft , lyrical and graceful.
