Dances from Central States (Part 1)

The states of Bihar , Jharkhand  , Odisha , Chattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh also have tribal dances.
The Santhal tribe inhabits the Chhotanagpur plateau. They have a diverse range of tribal dances performed at the time of harvest and festivals.
Ho is another important tribe of th region. The HO people are devotional by nature and Maghe is a ritualistic dance form.
In Bihar and Jharkhand, the Oraon tribr people perform dances according to the seasons like in spring,  they do the Jader dance. In this dance, the role of the drummer is very important .He produces a sound suggestive of the roar of the ocean, and the feet of the dancers move as undulating waves of the sea. There are other more important dances are - Paika , Sarhul , karma and Matha.
Now , we will  move to the next tribal dance which is from Odisha -The Muria tribes.
The Muria tribes perform the Gaur dance or bison - horn wedding dance. And the other important dances are -  Koya and Bijju Panda. These are festive tribal dances performed by the koya tribe.
