SHANTA RASA

Shanta Rasa ( emotion of emotionlessness) is considered as a ninth rasa in Sanskrit literature. It's Sthayi Bhava is Sama, i.e. state of freedom from everything. It's foundation is patience. Shanta Rasa is expressed by keeping the face in a peaceful expression by half closing eyes. The purpose of recreating this Rasa is to depict detachment from everything.
Shanta represents complete harmony between the mind, body and the universe.
In music, it is often represented through a slow tempo (speed).
I hope you like this brief description of the last rasa from NATYASHASTRA.
